This episode is quite long this week, and anyone who knows the pundits can guess why. Also, for those of you who are put off by curse words, the curse words will not be bleeped this time around. So fair warning to all, as listener discretion is advised.
Week 8 results of the Turkish Super League are reviewed. The pundits debate on a couple of tackles, one that led to a goal and the other leading to a yellow card. A red card in the Besiktas-Antalyaspor match would be the focal point of that match (much to the chagrin of one of the hosts). Trabzonspor pulled off a nice upset on the road, and it seemed that they had some extra motivation to do so. The week 9 schedule gets the rundown. A part of the schedule is scrutinized due to the day of a match involving one team competing in Europe.
The TFF 1st division gets highlighted this week. There was a brawl in Izmir betweenGoztepe and Eskisehirspor which led to the match being abandoned. The ruling from the PFDK was handed down as the podcast was being recorded so the sanction gets debated. Also in regards to the TFF 1st division, another club got a sanction for not paying wages and transfer fees. In addition, Caner Erkin suffered a pretty bad injury, and the pundits debate his recovery.
The major news of the week relates to a chairman announcement. Ali Koc, who’s part of the richest family in Turkey, announced that he will be a candidate for the chairmanship of Fenerbahce in their next congress (extraordinary or otherwise). The pundits debate Koc’s announcement and there’s a special cameo during this discussion.
The issue of fixture congestion comes up again. The issue of Yeni Malatyaspor’s elimination from the Turkish Cup comes up and whether elimination from the Turkish Cup by TFF 1st division sides might benefit them in their quest for promotion.
The podcast wraps up with a look ahead to European club competition for the Champions League and Europa League.
