Episode 298: Deep In the FETO Rabbit Hole

August 26, 2016

The new season is underway.  But it would be Aziz Yildirim who would be the center of attention.

Week 1 of the Turkish Super League gets reviewed.  Alanyaspor got a dose of reality as to where in the Turkish football pyramid they now play in.  Basaksehir continues to be a graveyard for Fenerbahce, while Galatasaray left it late.

UEFA continental play seems to be fruitful for Turkey this season.  Besiktas found out who they will play in the Champions League.  Also, it will be a first for Turkey in the Europa League.  Fenerbahce and Osmanlispor joined Konyaspor in the group stages of the Europa League, and Istanbul Basaksehir was put out of its misery.

The major news of this week concerns an interview conducted by NTV with Fenerbahce chairman Aziz Yildirim.  Yildirim talked about a lot of things concerning the FETÖ organization and its influence in football.  Naturally, some clubs didn’t seem to agree.  The pundits debate the interview and responses.
