The new season has arrived. So let the fun begin. We still got the transfer window open though.
The Turkish Super Cup is reviewed. There was some extracurricular activity before and during the match that led to a stadium closure for one of the participants. There wasn’t much to discuss here though, considering it’s the pre-season anticlimax and all.
The three clubs in the UEFA Europa League playoff round played the first legs of their respective ties. Two of them won, with one winner set to enter the group stages barring a major collapse. The one that lost has an uphill climb on its hands. Those matches get reviewed.
There was a couple of coaching changes, one that seemed overdue and one that seemed to come out of nowhere. Fenerbahce sacked Vitor Pereira this past week, and brought in a Dutch coach. But one coaching change that definitely came out of nowhere came from Adanaspor.
Other news discussion focused on two subjects. One of them concerned Jose Sosa finally getting the move to AC Milan that he wanted, and Besiktas getting a pretty good chunk of cash for him. The other is Edin Visca extending his contract with Istanbul Basaksehir. One would’ve thought that Visca would move on to a bigger club, but he’s going to stick around Basaksehir for a while.
With the season commencing this coming weekend, the guys run down the schedule for the first week of league matches for the 2016-17 Turkish Super League season. Also, the guys pick their surprise teams for the season.
