This week on Turkish Football Weekly, you might want to sit back and block off some time. The guys went into a good amount of discussion of everything they could get under the sun.
Week 13 results of the Turkish Super League are reviewed. It seems that one of our hosts was pretty accurate with his assessment of the chance of all three of the Istanbul big three winning this past weekend on last week’s episode. The guys then run down the schedule for week 14.
With the final matchdays of the group stages in European competition on the horizon, previews of those matches are on tap. First off are previews for the Europa League matches involving Besiktas and Fenerbahce. For the Fenerbahce-Celtic preview, James Cormack of the Bloody Shambles blog (which you can find at http://bshambles.blogspot.com/) returns to the pod to fill the pundits in on Celtic and help preview that match. For the Sporting CP-Besiktas match, Eric Krakauer of the bigsoccerhead podcast (which you can find on http://bigsoccerhead.com/) comes on to fill everyone in on Sporting CP. Jeremy and Ata then discuss the Champions League clash between Galatasaray and Astana, and their thoughts on it in a brief preview.
There were a few upsets of Turkish Super League sides in the Turkish Cup this past week. The pundits fill in the details on that, as well as update on when the groups stage draw will take place.
News this week concerns a few things. Bursaspor sacked manager Ertugrul Saglam, his sacking is debated. Kevin Grosskreutz expressed a desire to leave Galatasaray in the next transfer window this past week, and the guys debate that development.
Finally, our ongoing look into the Turkish Women’s 1st Division continues with the reporting of the week four results. Eskisehirspor is worse than previously thought, and there is a rundown of the week five schedule.
