Episode 260: Don’t Call It A Comeback For Mustafa Denizli

December 20, 2015

Episode 260, originally published on 11/26/2015.

This week on Turkish Football Weekly, one host was under the weather sick. At least Thanksgiving went okay for the other host.

Week 12 results of the Turkish Super League are reviewed. A wild ending at the Turk Telekom Arena highlights discussion of the results. The guys then run down the schedule for week 13.

European results are highlighted this week. It didn’t go so well for Galatasaray in Madrid. Besiktas and Fenerbahce would provide a bit more encouraging results in Istanbul and Norway respectively. Of course, whether all three qualify for the next round or not (and the way it looks, it will be for the Europa League) is yet to be determined.

News this week concerns Galatasaray hiring Mustafa Denizli as manager. The main points of debate are him returning to the field after about two years away from the sidelines, and his salary.

Finally, our ongoing look into the Turkish Women’s 1st Division continues with the reporting of the week three results. Eskisehirspor is still pretty bad, and there’s a correction of a result from week 1.
