We head into the international break after three weeks. It’s still early days but there seems to be interesting things developing.
Week 3 results of the Turkish Super League are reviewed. Galatasaray still are perfect. Referee Firat Aydinus became the center of attention for one particular match. Istanbul Basaksehir and Konyaspor had a rough match if the amount of cards handed out was any indication.
News this week varies from transfers and our first coaching change of the season. Genclerbirligi decides to dip back into the past to find their new coach. It seems one of the pundits doesn’t rate Umit Ozat as a coach though. Some player moves are also discussed.
With the international break, Turkey goes back on the road to the World Cup. The roster is broken down. There was some controversy over one particular call-up though. Also, there was some cospiracy rumors surrounding the call up in question.
Wrapping up the podcast this week are two points. Akhisar Belediyespor coach Okan Buruk said in the media that perhaps Turkey should try foreign referees in the league. The other point is an update on the Women’s Champions League and Konak Belediyespor’s journey there.
(By the way, spoiler alert: as of the publication of this podcast, Turkey did happen to lose to Ukraine 2-0. Looks like we might be in for another disaster discussion for next time.)
