So it seems that this was supposed to be a guest week here on the podcast. However, the one co-host that wanted to take off slides back in for some reason. Anyway, our guest pundit this week is Nadeem Raja, who covers Ankaragucu over at the Round Ball in Ankara blog (a blog this podcast highly recommends).
The results of the opening week of the 2017-18 season are reviewed. Abdou Razack Traore didn’t have a nice time in the Trabzonspor-Konyaspor match, but Burak Yilmaz sure did. Galatasaray made sure that the debacle in Europe was forgotten about. Antalyaspor might have some issues with refereeing. Then again, it’s still early days.
The opening weekend of the TFF first division is also reviewed. It looks like Gaziantepspor might be set up for a free fall similar to Kayseri Erciyesspor (if anybody remembers them).
News this week concerns transfers. Fenerbahce got an attacking midfielder. Galatasaray made a move for a West Ham player, but the main debate is how it might affect their bottom line.
A report of Turkish clubs in European competition wraps up the episode. In keeping with an old podcast tradition, the UEFA Women’s Champions League is covered as Konak Belediyespor begins their run in Europe. Then, Kaan slides right into the episode to discuss Istanbul Basaksehir and Fenerbahce’s European matches.
