Episode 296: Eren Derdiyok? Maybe It’s More Like Eren Derdivar

August 12, 2016

The season is fast approaching, so of course there’s the preseason anti-climax.  At least it won’t be long until we get games that matter.

The results of the draw for the Europa League playoff round start us off.  Istanbul Basaksehir faces the toughest test out of all of them it seems.  Let’s not count out the opponents for Fenerbahce or Osmanlispor though. There is also a brief discussion of the upcoming Turkish Super Cup.

News this week covers a variety of subjects.  The major talking point this week is Galatasaray’s acquisition of Eren Derdiyok.  The pundits debate whether the transfer came out to too much money spent by Galatasaray.  Also, Jose Sosa is back with Besiktas’ A squad, and the ban on away fans has been lifted by the Turkish Football Federation.

There is a note at the end that due to some technical glitches, it was best if the pundits saved their discussion regarding Vitor Pereira’s job status at Fenerbahce for next week.  Knowing the club, the manager will likely be sacked and the pundits can spend a good amount of time talking about it once it likely happens.
