Episode 347: Sliding In To Your Podcast

August 17, 2017

So it seems that this was supposed to be a guest week here on the podcast.  However, the one co-host that wanted to take off slides back in for some reason.  Anyway, our guest pundit this week is Nadeem Raja, who covers Ankaragucu over at the Round Ball in Ankara blog (a blog this podcast highly recommends).

The results of the opening week of the 2017-18 season are reviewed.  Abdou Razack Traore didn’t have a nice time in the Trabzonspor-Konyaspor match, but Burak Yilmaz sure did.  Galatasaray made sure that the debacle in Europe was forgotten about.  Antalyaspor might have some issues with refereeing.  Then again, it’s still early days.

The opening weekend of the TFF first division is also reviewed.  It looks like Gaziantepspor might be set up for a free fall similar to Kayseri Erciyesspor (if anybody remembers them).

News this week concerns transfers.  Fenerbahce got an attacking midfielder.  Galatasaray made a move for a West Ham player, but the main debate is how it might affect their bottom line.

A report of Turkish clubs in European competition wraps up the episode.  In keeping with an old podcast tradition, the UEFA Women’s Champions League is covered as Konak Belediyespor begins their run in Europe.  Then, Kaan slides right into the episode to discuss Istanbul Basaksehir and Fenerbahce’s European matches.

Episode 346: Burası Türkiye

August 11, 2017

It seems that we’re going with three guys again.

The Turkish Super Cup between Besiktas and Konyaspor is discussed.  The extracurricular activities though took center stage.  The guys discuss the game, the resulting sanctions, and solutions for preventing crowd trouble (if there are any).

The news of the week is discussed.  The Turkish Football Federation announced some changes regarding gameday rosters and the Turkish Cup tournament for this season.  Some moves were announced for the major teams, and those are discussed.

With the season set to begin this weekend, we give the rundown of week 1 of the new season.

Episode 345: A Triumvirate of Turkish Football Talk

August 5, 2017

It’s not often that a third person sits in on our discussions, but this week is special for some reason.  This week, guest Sercan Saylik join Ata and Kaan for this week’s episode.  It seems like it’s going to be a doozy.

The Turkish Football Federation found their new head coach for the national team.  The appointment of Mircea Lucescu is discussed as well who else was considered.

The European matches are discussed.  Both Istanbul Basaksehir and Fenerbahce advanced in their respective competitions.  The discussion here though goes off on some various tangents.  One of which is the judging of players by Turkish and other standards.

The episode wraps up with a discussion of the latest transfer moves.
